Flesh, the project from which these images are taken, is a visceral exploration of the human form, delving into the intimate and often unsettling relationship between our bodies, the animals and plants we eat, and our desire to transcend our own biological reality. This series blurs the line between flesh and food, transforming the figure into a canvas for both sustenance and decay. Inspired by the Surrealist movement and the work of artists like Hannah Wilke, Joel-Peter Witkin, and Whitney Hubbs, Flesh reveals how our attempts to subjugate and exploit the natural world are mirrored in our efforts to control and transform our own bodies and to delay and eventually conquer our own mortality. Ultimately, the work explores the profound conflict between our fragile existence and our audacious, yet often futile, desire to transcend it.
